2peas Challenge~Do you have a retreat or big event you look forward to every year?

Do you have a retreat or big event you look forward to every year?

I do have a big event that I look forward to every year now! Last year we attended Katie Weis Memorial Foundation, which is for a little girl that passed away. She was struck by a car when she was only 9 in September of 2004. Last year was the first year we went and I loved it. Especially the fact that the whole fundraiser went towards scholarships for students graduating from high school!

There were all kinds of venders there, Mary Kay, Avon, Creative Memories and a bunch of other ones! We had lunch and dinner. There were also silent auctions for soo many different gifts from Bath and Body Works, Creative Memories, and Pampered Chef. We also had door prizes and raffles throughout the day as well! Me, my sister, and my mom went, it was from 10am til 9pm. It was a load of fun. It was a Hawaiian theme last year. We are curious to what the theme will be there is year!

Also, they made about $3,000 from the silent auctions, the payment to get in which was $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Along with what the vendors donated to the foundation. Plus on top of it all, Wal-mart matched whatever they made, so they made almost $6,000 for the scholarships! It was great!

So, yea, me, my sister, and my mom are defintely looking forward to the big event in February, plus she said it gives her time to spend the day with her daughters doing something we all love to do, without interruptions from the men....lol

September 6, 2008

Well, it has been forever it seems like since I have blogged! I have got to get better at blogging more than just a few times a month....lol

Well, today I had to work. I had Friday off and got out early on Thursday. My work is defintely cutting hours down. They are a seasonal place and it is suppose to be busy but it's not. I work for a pontoon place, people can store them there for the winter get all kinds of stuff done and buy parts and furniture and all that good jazz from them. But with the economy and the way it is, it is a little rough at my place of work!

Anyways....worked today, got out a little bit early...not too much just a half hour. Then I went to my mom and dad's house. Jaime, Nick and my new little nephew Connor Lee was there. My mom's dad and step-mom were there and then, me, my dad, my mom, and Aaron the youngest of us three kids were there. We got together because grandpa and grandma have not seen the new great-grandchild so...we were suppose to get together tomorrow, but my dad has a reunion to go to on his side. Unfortunately, I do not know many people at this reunion that he is going to because I think it is his dad's side and there are/is like 12 kids, and we don't see them like we do my dad's brothers and sisters families.

Anyways...we had a HUGE dinner! Chicken and hamburgers on the grill, two veggie trays, squash, baked beans and macaroni salad along with angel food cake, apple crisp and ice cream for dessert! After supper and picking up everything, we passed around the new baby! lol. He is such a cutie! He is pushing 9 lbs already and he is not quite a month old yet. Later this week he will be!

I have been doing quite a bit of scrapping this week! I have over 20 pages done this week and month so far! I am super excited. I think this is the most scrapping I have done in a while...at least it seems that way! With fall and winter coming things tend to slow down and almost drop around here. I love winter, but sometimes it is sooo cold I just do not want to go anywhere....lol
